One Stop’s 300th Franchise Store

A huge milestone for One Stop Franchise

Opening the 300th franchise store was a testament to One Stop’s continued success.

It was an incredible milestone to hit. To view a video summarising the grand opening, see below.

Daniel Wilson, Director of The Wilson Group and the current largest multi-site retailer with One Stop Franchise, selected a site that could be teeming with potential in the town of Brandon, in Durham.

Previously another convenience store, the One Stop team worked with Wilson to forecast whether this abandoned site could be revitalised and given the One Stop treatment.

The results were in – customer demand for a big brand convenience store was high in Brandon.

One Stop Franchise’s 300th store was coming to Durham, a store which had:

  • Market leading promotions on essential products.
  • High-quality ‘Own Label’ and ‘Selected By Tesco’ ranges.
  • Long-term offers on fresh, frozen, meal deals, confectionary and off-license.
  • A familiar and trained team which was focused on the community.
  • Technology to maintain stock levels for highly requested products.

As a result of these well-known benefits, the grand opening of the store generated a lot of interested and became a community event.

On the day of the opening Sarah Lawyer, One Stop Managing Director at the time, John Miller, Head of Franchise, and Daniel Wilson shared their thoughts on the milestone.

Sarah began “I’ve been with the Tesco Group for 20 years, and I have always seen the important of One Stop in its entirety. We are different to Tesco Express, we have a different proposition, and we play a really important role in the communities we serve.

John added “It’s been a fantastic nearly nine years growing our One Stop Franchise brand across the United Kingdom, and today opening our 300th store is a real measure of how proud we are to be working with independent retailers.”

“One Stop Franchise is really working closely with our retail partners and listening to what people want. Our proposition will drive extra footfall into the store and extra basket spend. And in this cost-of-living crisis, shopping more locally is going to be really important.”

As a convenience franchisor with over 1000 stores, the strong One Stop brand is a huge attraction for customers. Daniel Wilson touched on this, saying:Customers know that One Stop is a good local store, and it will have most of the products that they want, and it really helps us grow our sales – which we are doing.

Opening the store played out in usual One Stop Franchise fashion, with a gathering of excited customers flooding the store eager to experience their new community store.

“There’s never been a better time to come and join the One Stop family, so if you are an independent retailer, come and be a part of our ongoing success story.” concluded Sarah.
