One Stop franchisees Arshpreet Sohal, Bhavik Odedra and Samreeta Kaur celebrated a place in this year’s Retail News 30 Under Thirty, with the awards ceremony taking place last night at Clarion Communications in Southwark, London.
Now in its sixth year, the Retail News 30 Under Thirty list celebrates the next generation of retail leaders who are making a significant impact within the independent convenience sector. The awards recognise young retailers who are demonstrating innovation and an ambitious commitment to driving their stores and communities forward.
Arshpreet, Bhavik and Samreeta’s recognition highlights the retailer’s dedication to delivering outstanding customer service, supporting their local communities and continually evolving their businesses to meet the needs of modern shoppers.
Arshpreet Sohal has worked in retail since he was 17 and currently runs the One Stop Gotherington Store in Cheltenham, Gloucester. He has implemented a food-to-go solution in his shop which includes a wide variety menu such as waffles, panini’s, milkshakes, kebab’s, curries and so much more.
Arshpreet explained: “I always look for opportunities to introduce products and services that not only appeal to my customers but genuinely support their everyday needs. Ensuring we continue to evolve our products, range and services is a key part of driving growth within the store.”
“With this said, I’m excited to learn more about parcel delivery solutions, with customer demand growing rapidly in this particular space. The potential installation will allow us to cater to our current customer base along with reaching new customers.”
Samreeta Kaur, franchisee of One Stop Talgarth, Powys in South Wales and secured her spot on this year’s list by leading a motivated store team to look for new opportunities with the goal of growing sales and improving store standards. Samreeta and her team also worked hard to strengthen the stores availability, product range and tailored promotions, better suiting the needs of the store’s customers.
“Creating a positive shopping experience for my customers has always been incredibly important to me, so seeing an increase in basket spend and a boost in weekly sales as a result of our hard work has been extremely rewarding.”
Samreeta has achieved this success while balancing her university studies in Computer Science, where she is developing valuable skills in systems management, technology integration and data analysis.
“Studying a subject that can directly support the future growth of my business makes me even more motivated to succeed and achieve my long-term ambition of becoming a multi-site franchisee” said Samreeta.
Bhavik Odedra, franchisee of One Stop Welford Road, Leicester, has secured his recognition for the second year in a row, thanks to his ongoing commitment to engage with customers both in-store and online along with his dedication to understanding and meeting his community’s needs.
Bhavik first received the award in 2025 for distributing welcome goodie bags to University of Leicester students living near his store. The bags contained essential items to help students settle into their new accommodation – demonstrating his commitment to supporting his local community.
Since being recognised last year, Bhavik has continued to build visible presence within the community and has become a well-known and trusted figure in the Leicester area.
“I’d like to thank our local community for their continued support, which has been instrumental to the success of our stores. We are proud to serve both residents and students, and to play an active role in the communities we operate in. This award is a testament to those relationships, and we look forward to continuing to make a positive difference for our customers every day.” Bhavik expressed.
