Bangor Rugby Club bags new kit thanks to One Stop’s Carrier for Causes

Thanks to One Stop’s Carriers for Causes grants scheme, the team at One Stop Bangor have been able to sponsor their local rugby club’s Under 7s and Under 8s teams.
The Abbas family have been running the local community store at Penhros Road for many years now and joined One Stop in 2016. As part of the community, they wanted to use the Carriers for Causes grants scheme (money raised from carrier bags) to help the community and especially the local youngsters. They were able to do this by supporting Bangor Rugby Club.
Rhys Davies, Secretary of Bangor Rugby Club, said: “The Retailer wanted to support the local community so got in contact with us at the Rugby Club. They wanted to see whether the Mini or Junior teams needed any equipment or kit for the new season. Our Under 7 and 8 teams were both in desperate need for new kit. It was great that they were able to support both teams for the start of the new season.”
He added: “The store is well known within the community due to it being opposite the hospital. Many of our Club members work at the hospital or visit it often, so will often use the store. Many of us know the family and have really appreciated the support they have given to the Club. We as a Club are really pleased that the family made the approach and hope that this is the start of a close bond between the community store and the members of the club.”
One Stop Retailer, Waqar, showed his appreciation for the support he received from One Stop, saying: “A big thanks to One Stop and the Carriers for Causes initiative for allowing us to sponsor Bangor Rugby Club’s Under 7s and Under 8s teams – they have new kit for their games and are delighted with it!”
Community is at the core of One Stop’s operations. The Carrier for Causes grant scheme is just one way that One Stop is able to work with its franchisees in supporting local initiatives and increasing its visibility and unique position within those communities.
