One Stop Franchise debuts in Scunthorpe

17 April 2014

One Stop Franchise has made its debut in Scunthorpe, following the opening of two new One Stop stores in the town.

One Stop is a familiar name to shoppers in Scunthorpe, as it already has two company-owned stores in the town, but in the space of seven days two independent retailers have opened the doors to their own One Stop stores. Having launched a number of franchise stores within the Midlands, South West and Wales over the last few months, the new Scunthorpe shops mark the expansion of the franchise scheme further north, as it continues to create huge interest amongst independent retailers nationwide.

Kal Binning was the first to reveal his new look, with his store on Westerdale Road, Ashby re-opening on Friday 4 April. Operating previously as a Premier store, Kal was keen to offer his customers better prices, a wider range and stronger promotions. As part of the switch, his store has been given a full refurbishment and feedback from shoppers has been incredibly positive. Last Friday – 11 April – Darren Cryne unveiled his new look store on Holme Hall Avenue in Bottesford.

As part of the changeover, the stores have brought in new product ranges, but instead of simply reducing their old stock to sell it through, they’ve taken the opportunity to help their local community.

Both stores have donated their surplus stock to the local Foodbank, with its representative, Ian Davis (Scunthorpe Foodbank Collections Co-ordinator) stating:
“We were overwhelmed by Kal’s and Darren’s generosity in donating these products to our Foodbank. The charity is reliant on the goodwill of both businesses and individuals and it’s great to see that these retailers have thought about the wider community in these challenging times. We wish them every success in the future and look forward to working with them on an ongoing basis.”

To celebrate their openings both shops have a range of special offers available and will be holding official fun days in the near future, with a range of activities for the whole family, including visits from popular Scunthorpe United footballers.

Andrew King, Franchise Director, One Stop Stores stated:
“We’re delighted at the level of interest from independents in our franchise scheme. We’ve spoken to a lot of great retailers and our store base is now growing at pace. It’s clear that our retailing expertise is a key factor in the partnership – successfully operating over 700 of our own convenience stores makes us unique in the market and gives us a USP to be proud of.”
