One Stop’s franchise concept expands to 5 trial stores

8 November 2013

One Stop Stores Limited is expanding its franchise trial to 5 pilot stores, as it continues to develop a proposition for independent retailers.

One Stop’s franchise concept was announced in April this year. It will mean independent retailers continue to run their own stores whilst benefiting from One Stop’s successful brand, convenience expertise, support and investment, to help grow their businesses. Through the partnership, franchisees will also gain access to One Stop’s low cost operating and distribution model.

The trial started with its first pilot store in Wiltshire, but One Stop has since signed up a further four stores - two in the Midlands and two in Wales. The company plans to commence roll-out early next year.

The five stores taking part in the pilot all bring something different to the concept and will help One Stop refine its franchise model and provide a compelling offer for independent retailers. Stores taking part include a CTN+, an existing convenience store, a Post Office, a cold start and an established symbol operator.

One Stop’s CEO Tony Reed stated:
“We’re pleased to have added four more stores to our pilot concept at such an early stage of its development. These new partnerships will help to shape the model in the future, as we refine our systems and find out what works best for One Stop and our independent retailers. We’re also starting to set up the infrastructure to enable us to roll-out more franchise stores in the future, including the recruitment of a team of Business Development Managers, as well as the various support functions required. We’re hoping to announce more details by February next year, but so far the trial is working well and delivering some great improvements for the independent retailers taking part.

“We believe that we have a unique offer which will provide retailers with a real partnership, where they can focus on building a long-term, profitable and sustainable business. We feel there is an opportunity for a genuine retail partner who is serious about developing an individual’s business by working closely with them.”

One Stop has also secured accreditation from the British Franchise Association, as an Associate Member, in a move which differentiates the group from symbol and wholesale offerings in the sector.
