One Stop on track to quadruple community volunteering

4 September 2014

One Stop Stores looks set to shatter its community volunteering targets for the year, following a successful Volunteering Month in August.

One Stop colleagues more than doubled their volunteering to 1,549 hours during 2013/14. In the first five months of this year colleagues had already surpassed that figure, against the annual target of 6,000 hours. The group’s first ever Volunteering Month in August has since added another 4,000 hours to the total, as One Stop encouraged its teams across the business to help out on key activities within their communities. The focus month included projects such as fence painting, gardening, litter picking, forest clearing and supporting a former employee who is no longer able to do her own gardening and maintenance work.

Tony Reed, CEO of One Stop, stated:
“One Stop aims to be at the heart of the community, so we actively encourage our colleagues to help out wherever they can. I’m really proud of the enthusiasm shown by our teams to cement our position as the leading community retailer in convenience. Our first focus month has proved to be an amazing success in contributing to so many worthwhile projects.”
